TTAL is Leading Tobago Into a New Realm of Virtual Reality with Google Street View, through New Partnership with World Travel in 360

Posted Apr 27, 2026

The Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) is ushering in a new era of digital discovery with the launch of its Immersive Digital Experience: Google Street View and Virtual Reality Project, in collaboration with World Travel in 360. This pioneering initiative will see Tobago featured on Google Street View, bringing the island’s most iconic sites and attractions to a global audience like never before.

The project reflects the Agency’s continued focus on strengthening Tobago’s digital presence and positioning the destination as a forward-thinking, accessible choice for today’s travellers. Born from meaningful engagement at ITB Berlin, held from March 3–5 in Germany earlier this year, the initiative was made possible through a strategic partnership between TTAL and World Travel in 360, which has successfully delivered similar virtual reality projects in destinations such as The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Antigua and Barbuda. Through Google Street View, an interactive feature within Google Maps, users around the world will now be able to virtually explore iconic sites across the island through immersive, 360-degree imagery. As a result of this collaboration, Tobago will join more than 100 countries and territories already showcased on the platform, placing the island firmly on the digital map and within easy reach of global audiences.

Filming is currently underway from April 19–27, capturing a rich tapestry of Tobago’s most iconic and scenic locations. This includes in-depth mapping of five miles of the famed Gilpin Trail at the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, allowing users to explore stunning sites such as the Gold and Silver Waterfalls. It also features approximately two miles from the shores of Speyside to the breathtaking trails of Little Tobago, offering a virtual journey across the Atlantic to one of the region’s most acclaimed birding destinations.
In addition, around one mile of Goat Island is being mapped, enabling a virtual boat experience around one of Tobago’s most scenic snorkeling sites.

Panoramic views of other iconic sites will also be captured and made available on Google Maps and Google Street View, including Englishman’s Bay, Lovers’ Bay, Man-O-War Bay, Castara Bay, the Courland Monument, the Speyside Waterwheel, Gibson Jetty at the Bon Accord Lagoon, and Fort Cambelton.

Their forward-thinking approach and dedication to sustainable tourism development have been instrumental in making this project a reality.”
Speaking on their experience in Tobago, he added:

“Tobago is truly a hidden gem. Having worked with many destinations around the world, we see an exceptional and largely untapped potential here. The island offers an incredible combination of pristine nature, rich biodiversity, and authentic experiences that deserve to be discovered globally. We are proud to support Tobago in showcasing its beauty to the world and are confident that this project will have a meaningful and lasting impact on its tourism sector.”

Beyond mere imagery, this forward-thinking initiative invites the world to experience Tobago’s unspoilt beauty and authentic charm from wherever they are. By embracing immersive technology, TTAL is enhancing how the destination is shared, discovered, and remembered.
The long-term benefits are also far-reaching, since the digital assets generated will support global marketing campaigns and provide engaging content for trade shows, websites and tourism events, while serving as valuable educational and conservation tools. Most importantly, it strengthens Tobago’s visibility in an increasingly competitive tourism landscape, ensuring the island remains top of mind for travellers seeking something truly beyond the ordinary.

As Tobago continues to evolve while staying true to its roots, this project marks a powerful blend of innovation and identity, inviting the world to explore, connect, and be inspired by Tobago. TTAL remains committed to leveraging innovative partnerships and digital transformation to sustainably grow Tobago’s tourism sector while preserving the island’s natural beauty, culture, and heritage for generations to come.
