Entry Procedures

1) Contact  Port Health Office before arrival

Contact the Port Health Office via email or call to inform them of approximated arrival time and date:

2) Visit the Port Health Office at the Port of Entry (Scarborough, Charlotteville).

Scarborough: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM
Charlotteville: Daily, 8 AM - 6 PM

Entry can be facilitated outside of working hours upon request at a fee starting at $100.
Required documents for pratique:

  • Float Plan
  • Maritime Declaration of Health

Upon receiving pratique, 2 official documents are given to the visitor(s) to present at Immigration and Customs.

3. Visit Immigration Division

Scarborough & Charlotteville: Mon-Fri, 8 AM - 4 PM

All crew members must be present with passports.
Documentation provided by Port Health must be presented to the officer at the Immigration office.
 
The following 5 Arrival Forms must be completed at the Immigration office:

  • Arrival Report
  • Crew List
  • Stowaways List
  • Arrival Report Form
  • Declaration of Health

Immigration fees apply only after hours and on public holidays.

 

4) Visit Customs and Excise Division's Office at Port of Entry

Scarborough: Monday — Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM

Charlotteville: Friday, 8:00 AM — 4:00 PM

- Official clearance documents received from Public Health and Immigration to be presented to the officer at the Customs and Excise Office.
- Marine Pleasure Craft (PLC) Declaration form to be completed
- Official customs charges are due:

  • Customs Boarding Fee - $264.20
  • Navigation Dues - $50.00 

- Failure to report on entry can result in charges.
- Permit to "Bay Hop" can be requested and granted. (See permit to bay hop attached)

  • Access to Northside Bays can only be granted via the Charlotteville Port.
  • Access to Windward Side Bays can only be granted via the Scarborough Port.

Transfer Procedures

Cruisers/Yachties coming to Tobago AFTER anchoring at a port in Trinidad MUST follow the following guidelines:

1) Inform the Port of Entry in Trinidad of plans to berth in Tobago to receive the necessary documentation.
- A temporary certificate MUST be received from the initial Port of Entry to present at the following port.
- Once pratique has been granted by a Port of Entry in Trinidad, the port health visit is not required at the Port of Entry in Tobago.

2) After arriving at the Port of Scarborough or Port of Charlotteville, visit the Immigration Division's Office
- Complete the necessary documentation

3) Visit the Customs and Excise Division's Office
- Permit to "Bay Hop" can be requested and granted.
- Failure to report on entry can result in charges

These guidelines also apply for transfers between the Port of Scarborough and the Port of Charlotteville.

Departure Procedures

Visit the Customs and Excise Division Office at the Port of Entry

Present the previously completed Marine Pleasure Craft (PLC) Declaration form from the Entry Procedure.

Departure from Tobago MUST occur from the Port of Entry unless a transfer has been issued to another port.

Waste Disposal

Upon initial entry to Tobago, solid refuse from Yachts is to be double-bagged and placed in specially marked bins located next to the Port Health offices at Charlotteville or Scarborough Ports. These specially marked bins will be labelled "Public Health".

Waste generated while in port should be placed in regular garbage bags and disposed in regular collection bins on the island.

Please Note: The discharge of sewage into the sea is prohibited by law, except when the ship has in operation an approved sewage treatment plant or when the ship is discharging comminuted and disinfected sewage using an approved system at a distance of more than three (3) nautical miles from the nearest land mass. Sewage which is not comminuted or disinfected has to be discharged at a distance or more than 12 nautical miles from the nearest land mass.

 Starting at 88875 N, 78125 E, proceed north to 95740 N, 75920E, then west to 95900 N, 65575 E, south to 88570 N, 65575 E, and east to 88570 N, 68430 E, following the highwater mark and including the mangrove forest surrounding Bon Accord Lagoon.
