Monday 22nd December, 2025, Scarborough: The Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) is pleased to announce that CARPHA's Advanced Food Safety Training and Certification Course using ServSafe, will be delivered in Tobago from January 26th – 28th, 2026. This prestigious programme is made possible in Tobago through TTAL’s partnership with the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) via the regional Tourism and Health Programme (THP), with the valued support of Mount Irvine Bay Resort, which serves as the venue sponsor for the training.

The training offers a valuable opportunity for food safety officers, restaurant managers and supervisors, and food and beverage personnel to strengthen their skills and play a leading role in improving food safety standards across Tobago’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Delivered by CARPHA-certified facilitators, the internationally recognised programme uses ServSafe training materials adapted to the Caribbean and Tobago context. Participants will gain practical, science-based knowledge in food handling, illness prevention, environmental sanitation, and outbreak response – skills that are essential to protecting public health and maintaining visitor confidence.

This initiative reflects TTAL’s ongoing commitment to building industry capacity, strengthening standards, and supporting the sustainable growth of Tobago’s tourism sector through targeted training and partnerships. TTAL strongly encourages all eligible professionals to participate, emphasizing that food safety remains a critical pillar of Tobago’s sustainable tourism development. As a train-the-trainer programme, participants will also be equipped to share best practices within their restaurants and food establishments, helping to raise standards across the wider industry.

The three-day course concludes with the ServSafe certification examination which will provide participants with the opportunity to earn a globally recognised credential that enhances their professional credibility and supports Tobago’s positioning as a safe, high-quality destination.
