Posted Apr 11, 2019
Tobago is one of the Caribbean destinations participating in the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s UK Travel Agent Roadshow, which is promoting the island among the UK travel trade.
The CTO Roadshow comprises of training and networking events to educate agents about the many attractive attributes of the Caribbean so they are well equipped to continue selling the region.
The series of travel agent workshops kicked off on April 09, 2019 in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, and continues this month in the west England city of Gloucester, and on the south coast in Southampton.
Destination Tobago is participating in several of these workshops, prioritizing geographical targets that are most likely to generate business for Tobago due to proximity to Gatwick and Manchester airports which provide direct airlift to the island.
Each event is attended by 50-60 travel agents and no more than 8 Caribbean suppliers, including tourist boards and hotel representatives, who make presentations on their destinations and products. Tobago Tourism Agency Limited’s destination marketing representatives in the UK, AMG Ltd., is participating in the Roadshow on behalf of the island.
Tobago’s representation also used the Roadshow as an avenue to encourage travel agents to complete Tobago’s online training programme, Tobago 101 Specialist, which showcases the island’s brand cornerstones and highlights the destination’s key selling points (KSPs) while offering selling tips.
Agents are also encouraged to log any bookings that they make after the training, which will enable the Tobago Tourism Agency to monitor the return on investment of these activations, and to make informed choices about future marketing and engagement initiatives.
The Caribbean Tourism Organization’s UK Travel Agent Roadshow will continue in June, July and September with visits to cities in Scotland and Ireland, before returning to England’s northern cities of Nottingham and Leeds.
