The land of my birth, there’s no denying my love for this small island with a big heart! The overall beauty, the warmth of the people, and the fact the I live where so many people love to vacation makes me appreciate every facet of this island even more.
Can you tell us about yourself?
I’m Sandy, but so many people call me Daisy as I’m the Lead Designer and Wedding Stylist of Weddings & Events by Daisy’s. I’ve been designing with style for 20 years, and wow my couples with breathtaking bridal party flowers, and timeless tropical décor. As a certified wedding planner, in recent years I’ve ventured into intimate weddings, providing couples with the quintessential Tobago wedding experience. Working with a select group of wedding professionals allows me to make your Tobago wedding truly unforgettable.
What, in your opinion, makes Tobago so special?
The people genuinely care about you; we have a “famalay” kinship where you are your brother’s keeper. There’s a rich culture that is intertwined in what we do, the food we eat, and our various festivals. The robust ecosystem that ranges from the icy cool waterfalls, the exotic tropical blooms, and the deep blue Caribbean Sea are just some of the things that make Tobago distinctly special.
Sandy's top recommendations for things to do, see and eat in Tobago
DO: You don’t have to be a chocoholic to fall in love with a visit to the Tobago Cocoa Estate. This multi-sensory experience allows you to see actual cocoa pods, understand the pod to bar process and taste some international “award-winning” chocolate. Take it to the next level with a visit to Tobago Chocolate Delights for their “chocolate making experience” where you get to partake in making artisanal chocolates and take a sweet piece of Tobago home with you.
SEE: I believe this section should be named "TO SEA”! I'd have to begin with the iconic Pigeon Point Heritage Park and meander along the coastline to Mount Irvine Bay all the way to the hidden gem of Man O' War Bay in Charlotteville. If you’re seeking a great adventure, try a bioluminescence tour and watch the ocean come alive at night with glowing plankton.
EAT: From the hostess with the "most-ess", to delightful dishes laced with family tradition, the Blue Crab Restaurant is my fave. The Mom and Pops of this treasure are actually my Mom and Dad, but I assure you a visit here is a must!
An oasis in Scarborough, you should try their grilled fish and coal-pot chicken or call to request the crab-stuffed dumplings. One thing’s for sure love is the main ingredient here! Il Portico, serves up a slice of Italy in Tobago, with their wood oven cooked pizzas, pastas and luxurious desserts. Buon appetito!
